What should be included in a business plan?

Do you have a good idea? Are you planning to start your business but don't have a good business plan as a starting entrepreneur? Writing a strong business plan is the basis of success.

Writing business plan

A business plan, also known as a marketing plan, is the first step toward your own business. This allows you to map the feasibility of your ideas. So what's in a business plan? A good business plan can be divided into a section about the entrepreneurs, a marketing plan and a financial plan so that you have all the parts of the Business Model Canvas you need in order to draw up a business plan.

The entrepreneur

You start a good business plan by filling in your personal details: Who are you? Where do you live? Are you married? What is your work experience?

We then ask you to articulate your personal motives and objectives. Who are you as an entrepreneur? Sketch an honest picture of your personal strengths and weaknesses.

The marketing plan

In the marketing plan, you describe your idea, and you do research. Among other things, you look at market developments, potential customers, target groups and competitors. There is a market for your product or service.

What product or service will you sell at what price and location to whom in your own company? How can you best market your product or service? Who are your customers, and how will I earn from them?

You will also get started with the marketing mix. This gives your company a clear identity. What makes your company unique and recognizable to the outside world? We use the 5 P's for this; product, price, place (distribution), promotion and personnel.

Financial plan

Where does my capital come from, and where is it invested? Am I profitable? Can I meet my financial obligations on time? Who are my potential investors? Again, where does my capital come from, and where is it invested?

In the financial section of the template, we refer to our simple and comprehensive financial plans. The simple financial plan is designed to provide a global financial overview of a simple business process. However, suppose you have a more extensive business process with, for example, different product groups. In that case, we recommend that you download the extensive financial plan.
